The Rev. Richard Jordan celebrated the new sanctuary of Antioch Baptist Church with its first service in the former Canton Negro Oldtimers Activity Center in Canton on Sunday. The congregation marched from its old building at 1103 Seventh St. NE to the former Oldtimers Activity Center at 1844 Ira Turpin Way NE prior to Sunday services.
Antioch purchased the Oldtimers building in September for $720,000. With a market value of $966,500, the deal includes a 16,994 square-foot building and 29 adjacent parcels.
Jordan said that in addition to worship, Antioch will continue to offer the building for community events.
