Canton Township Firefighters trained for the unthinkable: a simulation of an ambulance crashing while transporting a patient or responding to a call. About 30 members of the department participated, some played the role of injured victims while others performed first responder duties. Firefighters cut the door off one ambulance while a roof was removed from another. Deputy Fire Chief Jonathan Smith said the ambulances were scheduled to be crushed and the vehicles were no longer useable. They were made available for training by PSC Metals, a Canton Township business.
