Holiday in the Park
- 50 photos
- With the flick of a light switch in Stadium Park on Thursday night, the holiday season excitement began glowing again.
The city's Park Commission, with its annual Holiday in the Park electric light display, is doing its part to foment Christmas spirit - at least within those who visit the park after sundown.
Imaginative and animated lighting displays, such as the barrel-jumping boy, the penquin walking the tight rope and Santa Claus in a tractor, are strewn out in the park on the city's northwest side.
Right now there are over 220,000 individual lights and about 36 major displays, said Doug Perry, director of the city's park system. We have people who come in from out of town. The lights have become an attraction.

Ralph Regula Federal Building/Courthouse
- 17 photos
- The new federal building being built in Canton will be named the Ralph Regula Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in honor of the Republican's lengthy career as 16th District congressman.
Construction began earlier this year at McKinley Avenue and Third Street SW. The $14 million building should open in June 2010 and will replace the Frank T. Bow Federal Building at Cleveland Avenue and Second Street SW.
Regula, who lives in Bethlehem Township, served as Stark County's congressman from 1973 until his retirement in January.
